May 13, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa participated in Seela campaigns held at several national schools in Colombo today on the occasion of the 2600th Sambuddathwa Jayanthi.
President Rajapaksa is seen here participating in the Seela Campaign at a leading Buddhist schools in Colombo Visakha Vidyalaya girls’ school and boys’ schools Ananda and Nalanda Vidyalaya.
The President also took part in offering midday almsgiving at the Visakha Vidyalaya and presented a Buddha statue to Principal Mrs. Sandamali Aviruppola.
Seela Campaigns have been organized at all schools in the island today to begin the 2600th Sambuddathwa Jayanthi commemorations.
Principal of Nalanda Vidyalaya Ranjith Jasuriya, Principal of Ananda Vidyalaya L.M.D. Dharmasena, Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardena, and parliamentarian Thilanga Sumathipala also participated in the events.
