President pays last respects to late Nawaloka founder

Aug 13, Colombo: The President paid his last respects to the founder of the Navaloka Group of Companies, late H.K. Dharmadasa Saturday morning at the Dharmadasa residence.

The President who returned from an official visit to China early this morning visited the late businessman’s residence and expressed his condolences to the family members.

Dharamadasa, who was famous as Nawaloka Mudalali, hailed from a humble family in Matara in the Southern Province and became a most successful businessman in the country.

He was bestowed with the title ‘Deshamanya’ for his service to the country.

The Nawaloka conglomerate has more than 15 companies with businesses in hotels, timber trade, construction, industries, piling, polythene manufacturing, housing, hospitals and aviation etc.
