Remains of slain British tourist leave Sri Lanka

Jan 05, Colombo: The remains of the British tourist who was killed in a hotel in Tangalle were flown to the UK yesterday for burial.

Nazir Shaikh, the brother of the deceased, Khuram Shaikh Zaman, accompanied the body to the UK. Nazir arrived in Sri Lanka for the purpose on Tuesday.

Khuram Shaikh Zaman, 32, was a British tourist from Manchester.

The Director of the Sri Lanka Police’s Criminal Investigation Department personally met the brother of the slain tourist and briefed him on the progress of investigations into the murder.

Nazir Shaikh expressed hope that the culprits would be brought to book and thanked all who have helped his family in their distress.
