Sri Lanka allows foreign companies to engage in "Margin Providing"

Feb 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka has decided to permit foreign owned companies registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka as “Margin Providers” to lend credit to investors of the Colombo Stock Exchange.

The Central Bank said in a statement Thursday the move would help develop the business of margin providing, and also increase market activity by improving the access to finance for investors.
