Nov 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya says that the Army will establish a development and construction company.
The new company aims to assist the government to undertake the development work effectively at low cost.
The Army plans to use its peace time human resources in the company. It is to follow the tender procedure of the government when obtaining contracts.
The company is to undertake infrastructure constructions such as highways, bridges, buildings, playgrounds, parks etc. and offer services in transport and agriculture.
The Army has earned a profit of Rs. 370 million through the development it undertook following the end of the war in May 2009.
