Sri Lanka Marxist party accused of attack on education office in Galle

June 24, Galle: Members of a teacher association affiliated with Sri Lanka’s Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) is accused of an attack on the Galle office of the Education Cooperative Society.

General Secretary of the Society N W C Nanayakkara has told the state-run Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation that d several employees received serious injured when a mob attacked the Education Cooperative Society office Friday afternoon.

Nanayakkara has said that the JVP protested a move taken on a Court order issued on 29th of April this year that replaced the Board of Directors of the Education Cooperative Society by an interim Board. He believes the JVP members carried out the attack.

The Anuradhapura office of the Society also has come under a similar attack recently, SLBC reported.

The Police are conducting investigations on the incident.
