Oct 30, Perth: Sri Lanka should be given credit for its legitimate accomplishments following the end of the war in 2009, Sri Lanka’s Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris said today.
Addressing the media after the closing ceremony of the 22nd Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth, Australia Sunday, the Minister said there strong propaganda in Australia and several other countries against the government of Sri Lanka.
“This is all propaganda against the government of Sri Lanka, but the reality of the situation is Sri Lanka in all fairness has to be given credit for its legitimate accomplishments,”, the Minister said.
The Minister said the country has already begun preparations to host the CHOGM 2013.
He said there was no push to change the venue of the next summit and the decision to host in Sri Lanka was final.
“As far as we are concerned it is final, it is irrevocable. It was never the subject of any dispute during these proceedings,” he said.
