Mar 24, Colombo: A bill to establish a board to look after qualifications framework, accreditation and quality assurance in higher education and to establish a council for non-state higher education sector is to be presented in Sri Lanka Parliament during this year, says Government Information Department.
The board is aimed at preparing a legal framework to provide for quality assurance and accreditation of institutions providing higher education. It will also look into the registration and regulation of non-state sector higher educational institutions.
The Council is aimed at assuring the delivery of quality higher education programmes offered by all higher educational institutions in Sri Lanka.
Cabinet has granted approval in this regard based on a proposal submitted by the Minister of Higher Education S.B. Dissanayake.
