Sri Lankan government takes action to minimize expenses in public sector

Feb 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Finance has issued a circular to all Ministries, Provincial Councils, Departments and Statutory Boards ordering them to slash expenses.

The circular issued by the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Dr. P.B. Jayasundara highlights the need of restricting expenses due to increase of fuel price.

The circular instructs to restrict the use of vehicles to only essential official work.

It has also advised to keep the air conditioners on in offices only from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Finance Ministry has also urged the authorities of the public sector to reduce the costs such as printing invitations etc. for the official functions too.
