May 02, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that he would continue with the proposed private sector pension scheme that has run into much controversy.
The President has said that the pension scheme would be implemented despite opposition that has been raised against the proposed mechanism.
However, Rajapaksa has said that he was ready to discuss and make the required changes to it.
According to the President, raising objections when different legislation is being introduced is not new to the country.
A determined Rajapaksa has said the government was ready to listen to various views and make changes in the proposed system, but would not hold back the proposed scheme.
Trade unions, employees, and employers have e raised concerns over the proposed pension scheme saying it was not a scheme that would benefit the employees.
