Apr 27, Colombo: The Sri Lankan parliament today postponed the scheduled debate on the private sector pension schemes.
The debate had been postponed until the verdict of the Supreme Court on the relevant bill is communicated to the Speaker.
The debate on the private sector pension schemes was re-scheduled for May 3.
Following the postponement of the debate on the private sector pension schemes, parliamentary sessions were limited to one hour.
The pension schemes are under fire by private sector trade unions, workers, and employers. President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday agreed to hold more consultations on the matter before going ahead with it.
