Apr 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s main opposition United National Party (UNP) is to hold its Working Committee meeting on Wednesday (06) to finalize the appointment of a National Organizer.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told ColomboPage that the Working Committee would meet on the 6th and the party’s Advisory Council has held several discussions on making appointments to the remaining posts including that of the National Organizer.
The advisory committee of the party consists of Ranil Wickremasinghe (party leader), Karu Jayasuriya (deputy leader), Sajith Premadasa (deputy leader), Tissa Attanayake (secretary), and Gamini Jayawickrama Perera (chairman).
UNP MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara’s name was proposed for the post of National Organizer at the Working Committee meeting held on March 28.
Party leader Wickremasinghe however, said the appointment to the post should be discussed by the Advisory Council, although no other names were nominated to the post.
Madduma Bandara meanwhile has already informed Wickremasinghe that he was ready to contest for the post of National Organizer.
